An Introduction
Hello, my name is Anika Jadhav and I am a student from the Bay Area. I am passionate about the environment with involvement in topics ranging from soil science projects, to my home garden, and more immediate issues like air pollution and climate change.
I first became interested in environmental advocacy at school when I joined a club dedicated to planting trees in my town. The difficult 3 hours I spent carving holes and heaving saplings into place made me feel fulfilled in a much larger (and muddier) way. It was an activity that I never expected to feel so connected to and moved by. Wanting to pursue this positive impact further, I became more involved in my community from climate legislation to nonprofits focused on environmental protection. By seeing the way many local groups are tackling climate problems, I became inspired to do the same but in my own way: through reporting.
My goal is to raise awareness for some of the interesting or sometimes unheard-of environmental concerns:
Refinery pollution
Environmental injustice
Soil pollution
Water pollution/water quality standards
Industry environmental regulation
More openly, this is a space for others and myself to be educated about environmental concerns in a concentrated space. I want this blog to consist of my ideas, facts, and interviews with those leading change to create awareness. I hope that when you come across this blog, you feel a new motivation to take on a positive change for that issue you never even knew existed.
